The SEMBA Spring Pro/Am had 12 tables this year!
Pictured above are Anjan Singer and Jonathan Fleischmann - winners with a 65% game!
Anjan and six other U-M students - pictured with organizer Julie Arbit - came out to play. It was the first ACBL game for most of them! Aditya Priya (left) scored a section top playing with Mike McDonald.
Congratulations to Lori London (pictured right) on her section top playing with Peter Root!
Join us in September for a pro-am style TEAM GAME called "eight is enough." Details to come!
SEMBA’s 2025 Valentine Tournament started out with a feeling of depression on Wednesday, February 12th. Lynn Root, the tournament co-chair, and I were greeted with a terrible weather report and an equally bad report of………no Director.
Bridge players, however, are known for their creativity and enthusiasm. Jonathan Fleischmann stepped up to the plate, he contacted Bridge Officials at ACBL, interpreted regulations and became the Tournament Director. The call of Bridge overcame the weather and we came through with no cancellations and a total of 98 tables.
Thanks go out to Jean Hellekjaer and others for the baked goods, doughnuts and bagels we all enjoyed. Special thanks goes to Jonathan, who directed the complete tournament, sometimes directing two games and the same time while also playing. He also won more Masterpoints than anyone else throughout the tournament.
Neither rain, sleet, snow or lack of a director will stop the great game of Bridge.
David Dursum, Co-Chair
